A Suitable Boy

Being an Indian girl is a trial in the best of times... being an unmarried Indian girl is a trial by fire...

These days all evenings (loosely used in this context as i return home from work well after nightfall) are devoted to scanning/ research/ labeling/ color and qualification coding n so on.
I feel like i m redoing my thesis except that this time i m completely clueless about what the final product is supposed to look like.

No, i m not actually doing a study of some rare strange syndrome... i m looking for A SUITABLE BOY... that rare species of Homo Sapien Sapien( or is it Sapiens?) which all girls have to discover. The last one i discovered was a hardbound version lying in my aunt's bookcase n was far more enjoyable than the real thing (Yes, i meant the lovely novel written by Vikram Seth... i never understood the logic behind the main character's decision to marry for duty rather than love).

Our family has a family tradition of marrying for love.... since the past three generations all the marriages have been 'love marriages', my brother, the fourth generation will also be marrying for love leaving me to be the rebel n break tradition.
